What are tintypes?

Invented in 1851, it is one of the earliest historic photographic processes, yet remains one of the most beautiful. A silver image is rendered on black enameled metal, producing an image unlike anything else. Once varnished, these one of a kind artifacts will stand the test of time and may very well become curious family relics. Click here to learn more about the technical details of the process.

what do i get?

That depends on what you sign up for, but all in-studio clients receive at least one finished, original tintype plate, a high quality digital scan and a small tintype stand. Participants also get a first-hand view of photographic history during an immersive image-making experience.
