What are tintypes?

Invented in 1851, it is one of the earliest historic photographic processes, yet remains one of the most beautiful. A silver image is rendered on black enameled metal, producing an image unlike anything else. Once varnished, these one of a kind artifacts will stand the test of time and may very well become curious family relics. Click here to learn more about the technical details of the process.

what do i get?

That depends on what you sign up for, but all in-studio clients receive at least one finished, original tintype plate, a high quality digital scan and a wood tintype display stand. Participants also get a first-hand view of photographic history during an immersive image-making experience.

How do I sign up?

We aren’t setup for studio appointments in Minnesota yet, but you can see some more details about what is to come HERE.

Also feel free to contact us if you are interested in a location shoot, pop-up event or commercial commission.
